Spring in La Drova

Although we have been through a cold snap the summer visitors have begun to arrive and the Winter visitors departing ie Thrushes, Black Redstarts, Rock Bunting, Northern Starlings etc. With their departure we have seen the arrival of Swallow, Red-rumped Swallow, Bee Eater, Swift, House Martin, and Nightingale plus the song of Golden Oriole and the call of a lone Cuckoo plus good views of a single Redstart which stayed for  a day.

Nightingale in full song

Wryneck have been around for a couple of weeks and call regularly in the early morning. The Serin are now in full song as are the Blackcap and Goldfinch.

Our local ponds are full of carp and goldfish which makes a perfect larder for the local heron.
